CCRC offers free customized child care referral service to
parents of children with disabilities. This service is available
to families looking for care in Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge,
Needham, Newton, Somerville, Watertown, Wellesley, and Weston.
For care outside these towns, call (800) 345-0131. This service
is specifically designed to help parents of children with
disabilities to find integrated child care in their community.
A family services specialist will work with you to find a
provider whose training and experience best match your child's
needs.
This service provides one full year
of technical assistance, support, and referrals for families
of children with disabilities to ensure a quality child care
placement.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
STEP 1: Give us a call and talk with one of our
family services specialists about your
child's needs. She will ask you a number of questions about your
child to get a good picture of his/her strengths and special needs,
then provide you with information about your child care search.
STEP 2: The Specialist
will call and screen potential providers. She will focus
on providers who have training, skills and/or experience
in caring for children with disabilities, and will discuss
your child with the provider to insure there is available
space and that necessary accommodations can be made.
STEP 3: CCRC will
give you referrals to providers who have
confirmed openings and the experience/training that best match
your child's needs. The specialist will also provide additional
information on resources and educational materials to assist you in
your search for quality child care
STEP 4: You'll meet the prescreened providers to set up meetings
and finalize your child care arrangement.
You are the only one that can decide who can best care for your child, so the final selection
must be up to you. The specialist will be available throughout your
search to provide support and
answer your questions.
