Child Care Resource Center
is 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to
ensure that all the resources and services children
need to grow and learn are accessible to every family
and that those resources and services are of the highest
possible quality.
CCRC was
founded in 1971 as the first child care resource and
referral agency in Massachusetts and one of the first
in the country. At our founding, our focus was to
promote access, affordability, and quality of care
for young children. In the three decades since, our
work has expanded and evolved with the changing times.
Our
mission today is to promote the healthy development
and well-being of young children in Cambridge, Somerville
and surrounding communities in the greater Boston
area.
All CCRC
programs target low- to moderate-income families who
come from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
and for whom access to education, skills development,
child care, and health care is critical to their well-being
and economic success. Our programs and services are
designed to:
•
Increase access to affordable, high-quality early
education and child care, health care and other vital
services - such as housing, job training, English
as a second language - that support the stability
and self-sufficiency of families.
• Build knowledge and skills of early childhood and
child care providers in areas critical to their support
of children’s development, literacy, and social skills.
• Develop programs and services, in partnership with
other local organizations, to meet the emerging needs
of our community’s children and their families.
In working
to accomplish these goals, we promote:
•
Nurturing relationships between professionals, parents,
and children to support learning and growth,
• Sharing of knowledge to improve understanding,
• Access to resources and opportunities for all individuals
and families in the community,
• Respect for individual and cultural differences,
and
• Recognition of the complex contexts in which children
live and grow.
All
our work has a single purpose: to promote the
best interests of all children.
